On a pond within the Echeng Steel Plant in Ezhou, Hubei, neat rows of solar panels now catch the morning sun, supplying a steady stream of clean power to the facility. This 4.5 MW floating PV project, developed by Sungrow FPV, is projected to generate more than 5.4 million kWh of electricity each year.

Echeng Steel has been proactively implementing the national "dual carbon" strategy and pushing forward its carbon neutrality roadmap. The floating PV plant built with Sungrow FPV marks an important step forward in its green transformation journey.

In this project, Sungrow FPV fully leveraged its system’s technical advantages in terms of high returns, safety and reliability, and ease of installation. The solution minimizes shading losses and has demonstrated outstanding performance in actual operation—delivering higher power generation efficiency under the same installed capacity compared to other solutions on the market. The wider and more robust maintenance walkways effectively address operational accessibility challenges. In addition, a scientifically precise anchoring system ensures robust underwater design, providing a solid foundation for the stable and reliable operation of the power plant.

The highly efficient and reliable system design ensures high returns, while strict raw material quality control, professional products, anchoring design, and construction guidance collectively safeguard the stable operation of the system for 25 years. The float products, which have passed authoritative testing, also received high praise from the project manager: "The floats used by Sungrow FPV comply with both national and international water quality standards, which is conducive to the long-term protection of the surrounding water environment and holds significant demonstration value for the comprehensive environmental management of the steel plant."
