With clear waters and green shores painting a scenic backdrop, the beauty of Yiyang unfolds like a landscape painting. On the Beigang Changhe water area in Yuanjiang City, Yiyang, Hunan, a solar panel array spanning 8 kilometers from east to west floats across over 2,200 mu of water surface. Bathed in sunlight, it continuously generates clean electricity, bringing a "green rebirth" to the local region.

This floating PV plant, which boasts the longest east-west span of any floating solar project in the world, is Hunan Province's first floating PV project to integrate ecology, environmental protection, and power generation. It was commissioned in October 2019 and has been operating smoothly for three years. According to estimates, the project generates an average of 125 million kWh of electricity annually, reducing CO₂ emissions by 100,000 tons per year—delivering a double win for both local economic and environmental benefits.

Sungrow FPV provided the floating system solution and one-stop service for the project, deploying its 5.0 floating system to boost structural strength and stability—making it easier and safer for maintenance crews to walk across. The site's narrow, irregular shape called for a customized anchoring design, which enables quick adjustments during flood periods to ensure equipment safety. Since Yiyang is one of Hunan's three major storm centers, the system has weathered several flood seasons since completion.
