In recent years, the "fishery-PV complementarity" model has seen rapid development across many provinces in China. As a new path to green income growth, it combines aquaculture with photovoltaic power generation, creating an innovative development model that "generates electricity above and raises fish below." This approach not only allows PV power stations to regulate the aquaculture environment and increase income for fish farmers, but also makes full use of space, saves land resources, and optimizes the regional energy mix.

One Resource, Two Industries

It's the height of summer, with the heat wave dragging on, but the fish at Sungrow FPV's "fishery-solar" project sites are faring much better than people. The shading from the PV panels keeps pond water cooler than in traditional ponds, boosting fish comfort and lowering heat-related deaths. The panels also limit photosynthesis, preventing algae blooms and improving water quality for the fish. In addition, the electricity generated powers feeders, aerators, pumps, and other equipment—boosting aquaculture efficiency and income.

Moreover, the cooling effect from water evaporation on the pond surface reduces the temperature of the PV panels, boosting their efficiency. During the sweltering summer, floating PV not only increases energy production but also maximizes the performance of fish farming, delivering a triple benefit: better fish yield, higher power output, and improved environmental sustainability.

Technology Leadership, Green Innovation

Sungrow FPV has built several benchmark fishery-PV complementary projects in China, systematically overcoming the technical challenges of this model one by one. The fishery-PV model requires not only ensuring the normal growth of fish but also maintaining the stable operation of the floating PV system. The technical team conducted in-depth analyses of the water environment, designed floating system anchoring solutions tailored to site-specific conditions, and developed cable routing plans that adapt to varying terrain and water depths. The electricity generated by the PV array is transmitted to the substation through dedicated PV cable channels, ensuring safety and reliability, while enabling the synchronized development of aquaculture and floating PV power generation.

Sungrow FPV's system solutions feature flexible layouts and strong adaptability, requiring no modifications to the existing pond infrastructure—helping customers reduce system investment costs. At the same time, the scientifically designed PV system solutions can accommodate various local aquaculture practices, enriching the diversity of farmed species and maximizing income for local fish farmers.

Zhao Lijian, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, described the model combining floating PV power stations with aquaculture as a "New Edition of the Fishery-Solar Symphony." Light and water—natural endowments that have long sustained traditional agricultural civilization—are now being brought together by the Sungrow FPV team in this new symphony, revitalizing natural resources with modern energy and vitality.

Sungrow FPV has never stopped innovating to expand the application scenarios of floating PV power stations. Looking ahead, the company will continue to win customer recognition and trust through superior product performance, actively participate in the green energy transition of local regions, and contribute to the optimization of energy structures.
