The 2023 China International Offshore PV Conference and PV+ New Business Models Forum took place in Jinan, Shandong, on December 1. The event created a multi-stakeholder dialogue platform that brought together industry, academia, research institutions, government bodies, and media. With the participation of prominent figures from energy investors, research institutes, grid operators, authoritative bodies, and PV supply chain companies, the forum delved into offshore PV policy formulation, market opportunities, and technological innovation.

With its extensive coastline and abundant offshore resources, China holds significant potential for large-scale offshore PV development. Yet the sector must address challenges related to cost-effectiveness, system safety, and ecological integration. Wu Weiwu, Deputy General Manager of Sungrow FPV, delivered a keynote on "Research Status and Challenges of Floating Offshore PV" at the conference. He emphasized that offshore conditions differ greatly from inland water bodies—frequent gales and combined wave-current forces place extreme demands on system durability. Sungrow FPV has invested heavily in research on structural design, hydrodynamic performance, and resistance to ice, waves, and corrosion. Through extensive simulations, physical testing, and third-party certifications, its systems have proven reliable in typhoon-prone zones, confirming their long-term operational stability.
